At the time of writing, Ghana has recorded over 8,000 cases of infection and recently a ban on social gatherings was lifted albeit with some restrictions.

The 2020 ABL season has been suspended indefinitely due to the virus and subsequent ban and the League’s Director pointed out disruptions to this season’s playoff format.

He went ahead to highlight some of the challenges the league is likely to face on resumption considering basketball is a contact sport.

“For a contact sport that will be very very difficult because we all see what is happening with football even in the advanced countries the protocols they are putting together to even restart the leagues, I mean we are nowhere near that” he said.

He made this statement in an interview with Hood2Hood prior to Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo lifting the ban; the President however stated only non contact sports could be indulged with an update expected on contact sports on July 31.
