Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghana Forward Joel Mensah has officially transferred to James Madison University Men’s Basketball Team.
This follows Mensah’s move from San Diego State University Men’s Team after a two year stint with the Aztecs. James Madison’s team is nicknamed The Dukes.
The 6 foot 10 inch player was highly rated out of JSerra High School for his athleticism, mobility, and defensive chops but had a hard time showing his immense potential on the court.
In 36 games at San Diego, he averaged 1.6 points and one rebound in six minutes and spent extensive time on the bench even after fellow Ghanaian Forward Nathan Mensah went down with a heart condition for long stretches in the past season.
Joel joins three other transferred players at James Madison who will play under recently appointed Head Coach Mark Byington.
Extensive playing time is the best route to ensure Mensah’s development continues and Mensah plays the Power Forward position and can play the Center position as well.
