Recently crowned Greek (HEBA) Basketball League Champion Ben Bentil is in line to compete in the 2020-2021 season that will see some changes.
Bentil’s side Panathinaikos was named winner of the 2019-2020 season after the league’s general assembly voted to hand the title to the Athens based side.
The team had 18 wins and two losses in 20 games in the league prior to the suspension and eventual cancellation; the spread of the corona virus forced officials to cancel the league.
For the upcoming season, likely to start in September, 16 teams will compete in the league instead of 14 since no team is relegated after the cancelled season.
However, two teams are to be promoted to the elite division from the lower tier competition in the European nation. PAOK and Aris occupied the bottom spots in the 2019-2020 season.
Panathinaikos title is Bentil’s first since turning pro in 2016 after an impressive career at Providence College. He played in the NBA for Dallas Mavericks.
