Reports reaching Basketballghana.com indicate fixtures in the upcoming Tema Community Basketball League season could have a different “Game Day” compared to previous years.
This is as result of reports indicating the league’s top hierarchy is considering fixing game days on Saturdays to augment the Sunday Games which have become synonymous with the fast growing club tournament in Ghana’s Port City.
Playing games on Saturdays will reduce the length of the season that has caused concern for many stakeholders with the league stretching for long periods.
The 2019 season ended earlier this year with Nungua Coldstore bagging a second straight title at the expense of Spintex Knights. However, the Finals were scheduled to be played in early December or late November.
Factors including a fundraising basketball event for Coldstore Forward Gerald Sappor who was diagnosed with Leukemia contributed in altering the calendar.
Up to four fixtures are honoured on Sundays at Tema’s Community 4 Court during the Regular Season; the Tema League started out in 2016 with Coldstore winning the maiden edition.
