Basketballghana.com gathers the upcoming season of the Tema Community Basketball League is likely to feature a new format to play out games.
The 2020 Tema League start date is still on ice since sports events have been banned in Ghana due to the Corona Virus pandemic that infected over 2000 people in the West African nation.
Other Leagues in Ghana have been suspended ditto the nation’s leading tertiary basketball tournament-the UPAC Championship-; the Tema League on the other hand, was due to commence later this month.
Since its inaugural campaign in 2016, Regular Season Games have been played solely on Sundays with four fixtures honoured per weekend.
However, the increased number of competing teams has forced the league to end deep in December and officials are contemplating a shorter campaign in the near future.
Seven teams competed in the league’s debut season but 12 teams competed in the 2019 campaign that had Nungua Coldstore clinch its third title. Tema Rockets finished in second place.
