Young Boys (red) v CUCG Saints in GSP matchup

GSP Basketball League Secretary Michael Nketiah has stated the league board doesn’t know when the league will resume following suspension.

The league was suspended in mid March following a directive from Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo banning all social gatherings as a measure to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus.

The 2019-2020 league campaign was nine weeks in before the suspension took place with defending champions Young Boys leading the eight team standings with maximum points from winning all nine games.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, League Secretary Nketiah was confident about the rationale behind the suspension but unsure when the league would resume.

“The world we know is put on pause and we don’t know for certain when it will resume. GSP made the correct decision to indefinitely suspend all games for precautionary measures and simply to help curb the spread of the virus” he said.

The league is five years in with Suncity Braves winning two titles and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Young Boys winning a title.
