The 2019-2020 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Season is in line to be extended beyond its original calendar due to unforeseen circumstances.
The league has been halted until further notice due to the quick spread of the Corona Virus; the suspension is a preventive measure.
Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo announced a month long ban on social gatherings including sports activities in mid March before imposing a two week restriction on movement in areas with confirmed cases in the West African nation.
The league season had just tipped off prior to the suspension with the opening round of games taking place on March 12; the games involved all finalists in the 2019 campaign in the Men’s Division I and Women’s Division respectively.
Only the first week of games were honoured in the aforementioned divisions; the Division II campaign is slated to begin later.
Basketballghana.com gathers the postseason was to be extended due to the addition of more playoff games; the playoff format in the immediate past was a huge hit for the league and generated massive interest from fans.
