University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) Men’s Basketball Team Coach Felix Addo has indicated inexperience cost his side a place at the national level in the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

He made the statement in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com following the conclusion of competition in Zone 2 of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.

UMaT lost 29-60 to University of Cape Coast (UCC) and 25-49 to Takoradi Technical University (TTU) to crash out of contention. TTU won the zonal title and a lack of experience was the reason behind UMaT’s failed bid according to Addo.

“We came with the mindset of matching the teams boot for boot and we did that but it looks like the teams used their experience in basketball to play us and outwit us” he said.

The 2020 edition was UMaT’s third appearance in the competition’s history; this year’s UPAC-at the time of publication- has been suspended due to the Corona Virus outbreak.

The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank, MTN and Decathlon.
