Basketballghana.com can confirm the Western Basketball Association has suspended the 2019-2020 Season “until further notice” due to the Corona Virus outbreak.
The disease has infected and killed several people all over the world and there have been seven confirmed cases in Ghana thus far.
The directive falls in line with Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo’s measures on preventing the spread of the disease any further announced recently.
A ban on all social gatherings including sporting activities has been issued for a full month with a review to be made after the ban.
With a growing interest and fan base to keep safe from the disease, the Western Region branch of the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) decided to halt the league to protect all stakeholders.
The League was preparing for the final stretch of games before the announcement; league side Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Oilers topped Zone 2 of the 2020 UPAC Championship to progress to the national stage of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament prior to the announcement.
