The 2020 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Season has been suspended Basketballghana.com can confirm in the wake of the Corona Virus outbreak.
Ghana has thus far recorded cases of confirmed Corona Virus and measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the disease.
The West African nation’s President Nana Akufo-Addo issued a directive to ban all social gatherings including those for sporting activities earlier this week.
In response to the directive, league managers decided to halt the league “until further notice” in a written statement that was released later.
The new campaign had just started with a couple of games being played in the Men’s Division I and Women’s Division at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
In a repeat of last year’s Final Games, Ghana Police Service played Braves of Customs in the Women’s Division; Police lost 37-48.
Braves topped Adenta Leopards to clinch the Men’s Division I title and recorded a 72-39 win in the season opener. In other results, Reformers beat Ghana Police 71-58, Tema Youth run over Adabraka CYO with a 60-29 win and Ghana Air Force lost 51-61 to Tudu Magic in the Men’s Division.
In the Women’s Division, Reformers beat High School Academy 50-22.
