Competition in Zone 2 of the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is bound to be keen.
The Zone features two of the top three ranked teams in this year’s GUSA Games and 2019 UPAC Silver Medal winners Takoradi Technical University.
University of Cape Coast (UCC) and University of Education-Winneba (UEW) completed the GUSA Games held in January in second and third place respectively.
Both are featuring in the Zone alongside Takoradi Technical and University of Mines and Technology with competition set for Saturday, March 14 at UCC.
UCC and UEW played out a series of top games at the GUSA Games and the former came close to end eventual Champions University of Ghana’s run as winners but lost in the final.
Takoradi Technical has been engaged in games in the Takoradi Basketball League in preparation for this weekend’s competition; Takoradi Technical in the defending Zonal Champion.
Only the zonal winner progresses to the national stage due to be held in Accra from April 16-18. The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank, MTN and Decathlon.
