Sunyani based duo Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints and Sunyani Technical University (STU) have commenced preparations for this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Both institutions were involved in GSP Basketball League games over this past weekend at STU’s Court; the two teams played a pair of games respectively.
CUCG Saints beat STU 37-35 on Friday, March 6 in a game that was a repeat of the 2019 Zonal title decider between the two teams; CUCG clinched the title ahead of STU.
On Saturday, March 7 Saints fell 37-48 to League Leaders and Defending Champions Young Boys; CUCG has three wins in eight games this season.
STU’s woes continued as the team lost 26-31 to Desert Rabbits; STU has just two wins in eight games this season and isn’t in the best form heading to the UPAC Zonal competition.
Both teams are set to battle University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Kintampo College of Health on March 27 in Zone 4 of this year’s competition. The Zonal winner progresses to the national stage.
