Rite Sports Limited Photographer Theophilus Mensah has shot to international fame after his photo series work on basketball in Ghana was featured on Nike’s Air Jordan platform.
The photo series titled, “Together” chronicles thriving basketball culture in Ghana’s capital, Accra and Porto-Novo in Benin respectively.
Mensah’s love for the sport has seen him transition from a player to a blogger to a photographer in a decade; Matthew Tramell wrote the inspiring piece with phrases from his extensive conversation with the versatile Ghanaian.
Varied matters on Basketball popularity in Ghana in comparison to football, the best venues to play basketball in Accra and the importance of having African players in the NBA were discussed.
His association with award winning Ghanaian sports company Rite Sports was prominent in the selected pictures used in the article.
Two shots from the annual Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship and one from the annual Sprite Ball Championship for High Schools in Ghana were highlighted in the written piece.
Mensah is working on the seventh edition of the UPAC Championship.
