Radford University College has clinched the first win in the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The team beat Koforidua Technical University 43-25 in the opening game in Zone One at the Pope John Senior High School in Koforidua.

Radford led 29-25 at the end of the third quarter but pulled away in the fourth quarter to score its debut win in the Zone.

2019 Zonal Champs Koforidua Technical University competed well in the opening contest in the seventh edition with Frank Wobil scoring on hard drives to the basket.

Forward Jordan Agbogedeno scored a beautiful jump shot in the second quarter as Koforidua threatened to take the lead after tying the contest at 14.

However, Agbogedeno fouled out in the final quarter and his exit coincided with Radford’s brilliant run as Center Mubarak Alhassan and Guards Kontor Appiah and Godwin Tetteh impressed late on.

Another win for Radford gets them the zonal title; the team plays 2017 Zonal Champs All Nations University College next.

The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by CAL Bank, MTN and Decathlon.
