Bentil

Ghana Forward Ben Bentil scored seven points for Panathinaikos in a EuroLeague loss to bitter rival Olympiacos. Panathinaikos lost 78-81.

Bentil started from the bench and ended up playing 12 minutes in the derby; he registered seven points and four rebounds in the contest.

The loss is Panathinaikos third in a row in the continental championship after falling to Barcelona and Real Madrid prior to Tuesday’s loss.

Sekondi native Bentil scored all three free throw attempts and converted both field goal attempts without attempting a three point shot in the game.

The 51st overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Bentil, is averaging 3.1 points and two rebounds in 9:06 minutes in his debut season in the EuroLeague.

Bentil has professional experience competing in France, Spain, China and in the NBA for Dallas Mavericks. He also played for Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA’s Gatorade League-a developmental league.

Nick Calathes led Panathinaikos in scoring with 18 points with Shaquielle McKissic leading Olympiacos with 22 points.

Panathinaikos play Russian side CSKA Moscow on Thursday, March 5 at home after back to back away losses.
