Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghana Guard Alhaji Mohammed has signed for Tunisian side US Monastir and will compete in the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Veteran Guard Mohammed is the latest player foreign based player to join a team in the continental league; BAL is a partnership between the NBA and FIBA Africa.
Mohammed and Monastir will compete in the Nile Conference of the league; the Conference has Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers, Zamalek from Egypt, Ferroviario do Maputo from Mozambique, FAP from Cameroon and Patriots from Rwanda competing.
Competition in the conference commences on March 20 in Monastir a week after games in the Savannah Conference take place in Dakar, Senegal.
Monastir is one of seven host cities on the continent for the 2020 season; other cities including Cairo, Lagos and Luanda are scheduled to host games.
Mohammed is a well travelled Guard who was born in the US to Ghanaian parents and attended University of Louisville.
He has played for several teams in Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Hungary and France.
