Spintex Knights Basketball Club Coach Dr. Opoku-Antwi has stated in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com his “Boys exceeded expectations” in the just ended Tema Community Basketball League.
The 2019 season ended with Nungua Coldstore lifting the league title thanks to a 93-80 win over Knights in Game 2 of the Finals Series.
The title is Coldstore’s third overall in the history of the league and second in two seasons; the 2019 season was Knights debut campaign in the league.
In the aftermath of Game 2, Dr. Opoku-Antwi was upbeat about his team’s performance throughout the campaign despite coming up short at the last hurdle.
“I feel my boys have done more than enough, they’ve actually exceeded expectations. The nice thing I liked about the finals is that we gave everybody in the audience a very good game…so we should just up the tempo for the Tema Basketball League” he said.
Knights held late leads in Game One and Game Two but the “Finals battled tested” Coldstore side came through in clutch time to secure wins.
Young Spintex Center Rashid Kuta was named Defensive Player of the Year.
