For the second game in a row, a member of Spintex Knights delivered an outstanding performance in the just ended 2019 Tema Community Basketball League Finals.
However for the second time in two games, both performances ended in losses as Nungua Coldstore clinched its second league title in a row.
Knights lost 67-70 in Game One but Combo Guard Kontor Appiah was exceptional; Center Rashid Kuta did same in Game as Knights lost 80-93 to miss out on forcing a Game 3.
Kuta’s athletic and powerful display in Game 2 had fans jump out of their seats and appreciate his efforts with large cheers. He was presented with the Defensive Player of the Award after excelling on the defensive end throughout the season.
First, the young defender slammed an offensive rebound by out jumping Coldstore Forward Kwame Boamah Djan after a missed three pointer.
He proceeded to dunk the ball two handed off a nice feed from Fred Asante over Coldstore’s Kofi Elias; Kuta then blocked Jonathan Walker’s layup attempt.
Winning the Defensive Player Award wraps a very good season for Kuta who played in the All Star Game at the Africa Basketball Festival held last year.
