Team UG won the 2019 UPAC edition

Defending champions of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship-University of Ghana (UG)-is primed to have a familiar face for this year’s Championship.

The 2020 UPAC Championship is due to commence on March 7 with 32 institutions expected to compete in the seventh edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition.

Veteran Trainer Emmanuel Essel “Ghanaaaar” Worbil will lead UG’s latest attempt to capture gold in the highly anticipated competition in the next two months.

Worbil has been UG Head Coach prior to his recent hire ahead of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games in January.

UG won gold at the Games marking the third time Worbil had led UG to first place in the contest for public universities solely.

Despite his immense experience in the Ghanaian basketball space, Worbil is yet to win the UPAC title; he led University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in a previous campaign.

UG are chasing their fifth UPAC title after bagging four trophies in consecutive years.
