Basketballghana.com can confirm participating teams in the upcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL) inaugural season are to be drawn in Conferences.

In a move that mirrors the NBA, teams in the continental tournament will compete in the Nile Conference and Sahara Conference Ghana’s leading Basketball portal understands.

12 teams will participate in the BAL Regular season which tips off on March 13 in Dakar, Senegal with six teams drawn in each Conference.

Six teams qualified to the league after successfully progressing through various qualifiers while six other teams qualified automatically after winning their respective national leagues.

Ghana’s Braves of Customs participated in the qualifiers held in Cotonou, Benin but missed out on qualifying to the main competition

Games in the Nile Conference commence a week later on March 20 in the NBA-FIBA Africa partnership venture which aims speeding up development of talents on the continent. The first round of Nile Conference Games are to be played in Monastir, Tunisia.

Playoff Games and Final Games are to be played at the Kigali Arena, Rwanda.
