Basketballghana.com understands a special tournament to honour Ghanaian basketball legend Matthias Ocloo is set to be played next month this year.
The competition dubbed “Matthias Ocloo Cup” is scheduled to run from March 27 to March 28 and will feature Junior High Schools in Ghana’s capital region Greater Accra Region.
The event will take place at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Basic School in Adabraka; the school is a breeding ground for several basketball players.
The news comes as the basketball fraternity in the West African nation continues to pay its respect to the former national Women’s Basketball team Coach who passed away three years ago exactly on Sunday, February 16.
Ocloo is one of the founding fathers of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) which is Ghana’s most accomplished basketball league.
Aside working with the national team and the league, Ocloo played very key roles in training several female basketball players including league outfit Braves of Customs and St. Mary’s Senior High School.
Ocloo is a former Dedication and Valour Winner at the Ghana Basketball Awards.
