The Tema Community Basketball League Finals Series is up and running after Game One of the best of three game series commenced this past weekend at the Tema Community 4 Court.
Nungua Coldstore secured a 70-67 win over Spintex Knights; another win in the series secures the defending champions its third league title.
However, Game One was dominated by Knights Guard Kontor Appiah who should feel hard done by the result in a game Knights led for long stretches.
Appiah was outstanding from three point range in the game and converted a trio of three point shots in the third quarter to give Knights a 55-51 lead.
Coupled with his consistent performance throughout the regular season, Appiah is on track to bag the League’s MVP Award this season.
Should Knights miss out on winning the title, Appiah would be the second player to win the Award despite missing out on winning the league title with his team.
Benjamin Omari was named MVP in 2018 as a member of Tema who lost to Coldstore in the finals; Omari joined Knights this season.
