The 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is slated to commence next month with several institutions building up to Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.

Over the years, the consistently expanding competition draws in more institutions to participate and the upcoming edition is likely to buck the trend.

Earlier in January, the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games took place and had a host of UPAC contingents participate with reigning UPAC Champions University of Ghana (UG) clinch the GUSA title.

University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) competed in the basketball competition at GUSA.

Both teams missed out on grabbing medals at the tournament with GIJ participating for the first time; the two institutions are reportedly in the mix to get drafted into the pool of competing teams in this year’s edition.

This year’s edition of UPAC is the seventh since the competition commenced in 2011; UG are four time winners after winning every singled edition since 2016.
