Former St. Mary’s Senior High School Student and Player Chantelle Eghan has shed light on the life of former Coach Matthias Ocloo who passed away three years ago.
Ocloo passed away on February 16, 2017 after battling illness for an extensive period which forced him to stay away from active basketball activities.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com as tributes continue to pour in celebrating the prominent advocate for female basketball in Ghana, Eghan pointed the late Ocloo as an instrumental figure in her life through basketball.
“The fact that he believed in me when I didn’t think I was ready to play basketball or didn’t think I had any knowledge about playing basketball he was willing to accept me (I was in Form One)…he did things out of the goodness of his heart because he was passionate about basketball” she said and added
“As a Basketball Coach, he taught me how to be time conscious, positive…his commitment will influence you to think like him that was the kind of Coach Mr. Matthias was”.
Eghan competed in three Sprite Ball Championship editions under Ocloo.
