Ghana Forward Ben Bentil started for the third time for Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague in his debut run in the continental championship.
Bentil played 18:55 minutes for the Greek Giant in a 73-78 loss to Crvena Zvezda or Red Star Belgrade in the Serbian Capital on Thursday.
It was the Sekondi native’s 18 game played this season and he registered two rebounds and two assists but went scoreless surprisingly.
The soon to be 25 year old player has scored points in limited minutes for much of the season; he scored three points and added rebound in 2:55 minutes in a loss to Valencia prior to the loss to Belgrade.
The former Dallas Mavericks player was part of a starting unit that generally struggled in Serbia as two other starters scored fewer than 10 points.
Former Sacramento Kings Center Georgios Papagiannis led Panatinaikos with 12 points and five rebounds in 21 minutes. Belgrade player Kevin Punter led all players with 24 points.
Bentil is the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA; he starred for Providence College.
