Former NBA Champion and France International Forward Boris Diaw has visited the FIBA Africa Headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
On his visit to the recently built facility in the West African nation’s economic capital, Diaw met with FIBA President Hamane Niang and FIBA Africa Regional Director Alphonso Bile.
Diaw has been heavily involved with youth basketball since retiring; he was present at the Under 16 African Championship in 2017.
Mali won the competition and progressed to win Silver at the World Under 19 Championship in the presence of Diaw.
“It is true that much is said about the potential of the youth in Africa, but this potential must be well-managed and be turned into reality. I have noticed that in recent years things have improved as many countries have built modern infrastructures. It’s therefore important to accentuate the training so that African basketball emerges at its true value” he said.
Diaw whose father is Senegalese won the 2013 European Championship with France.
