Ghana Forward Joel Mensah was on the court and helped his San Diego State University Men’s Basketball Team record a record setting 21st win to open the US Men’s College Basketball season.
Mensah played for just three minutes (he continues to battle back spasms) in San Diego’s 71-67 win over University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Coming off the bench late on, second year player Mensah recorded a rebound and blocked a shot as the Aztecs broke the 20 win record set by the 2010-2011 team that was led by Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.
Fellow Ghanaian Forward/Center Nathan Mensah was on the bench and cheered his teammates on; Nathan has blood clots in his lungs and has missed eight straight games asa result.
Nathan was the starting Center for San Diego prior to his ailment; he has played five games thus far in the season.
Thanks to the win, San Diego remains the only unbeaten team in Men’s Division I College Basketball; the Aztecs play New Mexico on Wednesday, January 29.
