Since reaching the highs of winning the Tema Community Basketball League in 2017, Tema Community 4 have failed to replicate the magic.
That could extend to another year as the team trails 0-1 in its semifinal series against Spintex Knights in the ongoing playoffs at C4’s Court. Community 4 lost 37-48 to Knights.
Spintex Knights clinched the wire to wire win by getting crucial points during moments C4 threatened to tie the game as early as the first quarter; Knights raced off to a 7-2 lead but C4 went on a good run to trail 7-9 before Spintex bagged four more points to close the first quarter with an 11-7 lead.
C4 did well when the team moved the ball around opening driving lanes for the likes of Muhaimin Guba and Thomas Nii Moi while setting shooters Thomas Amedeku and Brian Kwami free for uncontested shot attempts.
However, turnovers and foul trouble hurt C4’s chances of at least forcing overtime; Game 2 is on January 26 at the same venue in a must win game for the home side.
