Ghanaian Para-athlete and accomplished wheelchair basketball star Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has commenced training for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan later this year Basketballghana.com can confirm.

Nkegbe qualified to the international competition last year and adds up to his collection of Paralympics appearances; the veteran athlete competed at the 2012 Paralympics in London.

Speaking to Ghana’s biggest basketball portal, Nkegbe was upbeat about his preparations for the competition in Ghana’s capital, Accra. Ghana’s hockey stadium will serve as his training base.

“I’m starting my official training today ahead of the Paralympics Games in Tokyo…gym workout for a week or two at the hockey pitch” he stated.

This comes after news emerged Nkegbe has extensive plans to launch his sports clothing line named BOTSYO SPORTSWEAR in the coming months.

The clothing line is to be launched in partnership with UK Sportswear company POKOO with the company set to produce tracksuits, shirts, gym bottles and sports bags.

Nkegbe led Brong Ahafo region to gold in Male Wheelchair basketball at the National Sports Festival in 2017.
