Keta Business College (KETABUSCO) has been instructed by the Ghana Educations Service (GES) to return all items handed to the school for winning the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The school won the 14th edition of Ghana’s biggest High School basketball tournament earlier this month thanks to a 48-40 win over Mfantsipim School in the Boys Division Final played at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
KETABUSCO walked away with a cash prize of 2000 Ghana Cedis, a trophy and medals for winning the prestigious competition for the first time ever.
Guard Prince Gidisi and Coach Senyo Ashiagbor were named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament and Coach of the Tournament in the Boys Division as well. Both are expected to return their plaques.
The directive was issued by GES Deputy Director General Anthony Boateng in consultation with National Physical Education Coordinator Emmanuel Dormenyah after investigations into alleged cheating revealed KETABUSCO used five unqualified players in the competition.
The school has since been banned indefinitely from competing in the Sprite Ball Championship.
