University of Ghana (UG) picked up where they left off earlier today to brush aside University of Education-Winneba (UEW) in the Women’s Basketball Division at the ongoing 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
UG triumphed 57-25 in the entertaining matchup at the former’s main court; the win was UG’s second of the day as the team completed an 85-6 win over University of Professional Studies (UPSA).
UPSA trailed 2-56 against UG midway through the third quarter on Sunday, January 12 but an electrical fault prevented the game from concluding.
However, UG showed no signs of fatigue as its deep roster led through the entire game; the host university held a 15-4 first quarter lead.
Guard Carlen Adjei scored a layup off a UEW turnover; gifting possession to the opposing team hurt UEW’s chances of mounting a comeback as Guard Grace Doe exited with a serious knee injury.
Anita Bonney scored 12 points for UG in the final quarter including an eight point run that had the veteran Guard hit back to back three point shots.
