Ghana Forward Ben Bentil had not featured in a while for Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague Basketball competition prior to the team’s 87-96 loss to Olimpia Milano of Italy.
Bentil played 10 minutes as a substitute and made the most of his minutes by scoring seven points and grabbing a rebound in the game.
The tie was led in scoring by Jimmer Fredette who registered 28 points and three rebounds in 23 minutes as a starter for the Greek giant.
Bentil is playing in Europe’s most prestigious continental competition for the first time after signing for Panathinaikos in the past offseason.
Despite playing in his fourth season since turning professional in 2016, Bentil has played for several teams including fellow Greek side Peristeri BS.
The Sekondi native is the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA. Panathinaikos play Bayern Munich next on Wednesday, January 15 in the Euroleague.
Later today, Panathinaikos play sixth ranked Lavrio in the Greece League; Panathinaikos lead the 14 team league.
