2020 Sprite Ball Girls Champions Shama Senior High School

The drought is over for Ghana’s Western Region quest to win the prestigious Sprite Ball Championship following Shama Senior High School’s dramatic title run at the 2020 edition of the competition.

Shama won its first Sprite Ball after beating St. Louis Senior High School 15-14 in the Girls Division Final played at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

The school needed a Bridget Agyemang missed free throw to avoid overtime and clinch the title in its first ever appearance in the final game.

Prior to Shama’s big win, the region’s best performance in the celebrated competition was bronze medals wins for representatives.

Shama had won two bronze medals in the girls division with Ahantaman Senior High School winning bronze in the 2018 edition.

In the Boys Division, St. John’s School and Ghana Senior High Technical School also won bronze in previous editions held.

Shama also added a couple of “firsts” as Coach George Hanson and Guard Gifty Nkrumah were named MVP’s in the respective categories.
