University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Coach Emmanuel Essel Worbil has made a winning return to his role as Head Coach following a mind blowing win in the 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.

UG demolished Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) 103-8 in its opening game of the biannual games taking place at UG’s Legon Campus.

This is GIJ’s debut run in the tournament; 11 institutions are competing in this year’s competition which started on January 3 and ends on January 19.

Popularly known as “Coach Ghanaar”, Worbil stepped away from the UG program after winning the 2010 and 2012 Games and marked his return with a big win.

The win reflects Coach Worbil’s title ambitions for the 2016 and 2018 GUSA Champions in an interview with Basketballghana.com in a training session.

“Always expect victory all the time from my side I promise my fans and everybody…for sure everybody should expect gold medal from us” he stated.

Aside UG, University of Cape Coast and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology are considered title contenders.
