The 2020 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games were officially opened on Friday, January 3 at the University of Ghana (UG) Legon Campus.
The basketball competition commenced this past weekend and the opening exchanges have produced eyebrow raising score lines.
Host and two time winners UG aim to clinch its third straight title and got this year’s competition on a big note by hammering Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) 103-8.
GIJ is making its debut in the biannual multisport competition that is due to end on January 19; UG plays Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) next while GIJ take on University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS) on Tuesday, January 7.
University of Cape Coast (UCC) has bagged two wins in two games beating GIJ 80-17 and UHAS 144-26.
In other games, University of Education-Winneba beat UHAS 77-12, University of Professional Studies (UPSA) beat University of Energy Natural Resources (UENR) 42-28 and University of Development Studies won via forfeit over University of Mines and Technology.
