Mfantsipim School eased into the semifinals of the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship semifinals but Prempeh College needed a final second miracle to book its place in the semis.
Five time winners Mfantsipim handed St. John’s School a 27-11 loss in the quarterfinals with the latter failing to seriously threaten the former.
St. John’s trailed 5-16 at half time and played better in the second half but the damage was done in the first as the Saints started out flat.
Mfantsipim get closer to annex another title and stretch its record achievement in the tournament to six; the team is the most successful in the competition’s history with five wins.
After suffering close painful losses in previous editions of Ghana’s biggest High School basketball tournament, Prempeh College beat Adisadel College 25-24.
Point Guard Elvis Sarpong scored one of two free throws to give Prempeh the lead and win; Nana Kwabena Sarfo was key in the win as he scored six points to tie the game.
Adisadel’s David Owusu and Emmanuel Essuon starred for Adisadel.
