Two former winners of the prestigious Sprite Ball Championship Wesley Girls High School and Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) were in action for the first time in the 2020 competition and ended up with polarizing results.
Wesley Girls lost 7-11 to Shama Senior High School; Shama placed third in the 2019 Sprite Ball and have ambitions of going a step better.
In other results in the Girls Division, Kumasi Girls beat debutant Bueman Senior High School 19-16 and PRESEC Osu topped Krobo Girls 27-20.
It was an interesting round for PRESEC Osu who recorded a huge 30-22 win over Pope John Senior High School in Group C’s opening game.
Bannor Lokko and Gustav Sampson were interesting to watch in the first half when Pope John led 16-8 but fell flat in the second half when PRESEC Osu Center Cabu came into his own.
James Okine made his return to the bench for Pope John as Head Coach in the competition but the anticipated return ended in a loss.
