St. John’s School, Sekondi has emerged winners of Group B in the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
The Saints clinched a 34-21 win over St. Paul’s Senior High School in a game dubbed “Battle of the Catholics” to bring matters in the group to an end.
The win ensures St. John’s qualify as winners of the Group after bagging two wins in as many games; St. John’s beat 2016 Sprite Ball Champions Opoku Ware School 30-27 in its first game.
This means Opoku Ware will finish in second and qualify alongside St. John’s to the quarterfinals of the Boys Division. Opoku Ware beat St. Paul’s 30-27 prior to the loss to St. John’s.
St. Paul’s debut run in the competition has come to a quick end and exit the tournament without any wins.
In the Girls Divisions, Shama Senior School lost 17-24 to St. Louis Senior High School to miss out on ending the preliminary stage without a loss. St. Louis and Shama recorded two wins in three games.
