Ghana Center Nathan Mensah missed his first ever game for San Diego State University Men’s Basketball team after a shock absence in the team’s latest outing.
The Aztecs beat Fresno State University 61-52 to start the New Year with a win and extend the team’s winning streak to 14 this season.
On the other hand, the 20 year old second year sophomore defender was not in the San Diego starting lineup for the first time in a team leading 33 games.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Mensah is dealing with an “undisclosed respiratory issue” and forced him to play just 14 minutes in a win over California Polytechnic State University prior to facing off against Fresno State.
“We hope to have him back at some point but No. 1 on our list is his health…He’s had some tests, and now he has to wait, like all of us, to get into the specialists and see what their recommendations are. When that happens, hopefully sometime this week, we’ll have a better idea of what the timeline will be” San Diego Coach Brian Dutcher said.
Fellow Ghanaian frontcourt player Joel Mensah played 16 minutes off the bench and registered eight points and two rebounds.
