Kumasi Girls

Defending Sprite Ball Girl’s Division Champions Kumasi Girls Senior High School (KGEE) is under pressure to maintain its fine run since making its debut appearance in the highly rated competition.

Since making its debut at the January 2016 edition, Kumasi Girls have made the semifinals in all appearances and played in three finals.

Kumasi Girls ranked fourth in its debut appearance and placed second in the next edition held in December in 2016 before playing in two more finals and winning both.

However, Kumasi Girls is under extreme pressure to maintain its high level of play in the tournament considering its poor run in the qualifiers.

KGEE only qualified to the 2020 Sprite Ball via its defending champion status after missing out on the Ashanti Regional finals. St. Louis Senior High School won the division to represent the region alongside Kumasi Girls.

KGEE has since been drawn in a fairly straight forward Group A that has debutant Bueman Senior High School, Krobo Girls Senior High School and PRESEC Osu.

The back to back winners are without key members from the championship winning teams but need to be one of two groups to progress from the Group to make another semifinal appearance.

The 2020 Sprite Ball Championship runs from January3-4 at the El Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra.
