Accra has won the All Star Game at the Africa Basketball Festival after bagging a 56-55 win in overtime over Team Tema at the Bukom Arena.
The game was contested strongly by both teams and didn’t have the usual ambiance of an all star game riddled with eye catching skills.
In fact, the game had more blocks than dunks highlighting the intensity the game was played with; the best moment of the contest took place in the first quarter when Forward Joshua Annang slammed an alley oop dunk.
Accra trailed 22-29 at the end of the first half but rallied late in the final quarter to tie the game and send it to overtime thanks largely to the efforts of Small Forward James Amotoe.
Tema Center Abdul Rashid Kuta had the chance to give Tema the win in overtime but missed from the free throw line giving Accra the win.
The contest headlined the maiden edition of the Festival. This was Accra’s sole win in the festival after missing out on wins in the Slam Dunk Contest, Three Point Shooting Contest and Ladies Free Throw Contest.
