The list of competing teams in the main round of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) has been completed following the success of Patriots Basketball Club and Ferroviario de Maputo this past weekend.

GNBC from Madagascar, Patriots from Rwanda and Ferroviario progressed from Group H to the main round where the trio joins nine teams for the maiden edition of the continental championship which is a product of the NBA and FIBA Africa.

Rwanda’s Kigali Arena hosted qualification games in Group H and home side Patriots gave the crowd a lot to be happy about by delivering a 94-63 win over GNBC. Rwanda President Paul Kagame witnessed the impressive win.

City Oilers from Uganda lost 57-74 to Ferroviario in the playoff game for the remaining qualification spot; the result highlights a great week for Maputo whose female side recently won the Africa Club Championship in Egypt.

AS Police from Mali and GS Petroilers from Algeria qualified from Group G after three rounds of qualifiers that involved a host of West African nations including AS Nigelec from Niger and Abidjan Basket from Ivory Coast.
