Ahanataman (white) in action at the 2018 Sprite Ball

Ahantaman Senior High School finished in a disappointing sixth place at the recently held Western Region qualifiers for the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship.

Sprite Ball is Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball Championship and next year’s edition runs from January 3 to January 4 at the El Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

After winning bronze at the 2018 Sprite Ball, Ahantaman failed to qualify to the 2019 edition following a loss to Shama Senior High School in the regional final.

However, the fortunes of the school failed to improve as the school failed to progress from the regional level and lost to the likes of Fijai Senior High School.

The latest result represents another low point in Ahantaman’s run in the competition in recent years; Shama Senior High topped the Girl’s Division after clinching a 17-3 win over Fijai.

Seven schools competed in the qualifiers with Hal Assini SHS finishing in third place with Archbishop Porter Girls SHS and Mphor SHS finishing in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Badu Bonsoe SHS ranked bottom in the standings.
