The Western Regional qualifiers for the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship is taking place at the St, John’s School, Sekondi with 14 schools competing for places in the Boys and Girls Divisions respectively at the national competition.
Seven schools are competing in the Boys Division at the regionals with the same number of teams competing in the Girls Division.
2018 competitor Takoradi Technical Institute recorded an impressive win over Takoradi Senior High School thanks to a 15-10 win.
Takoradi Technical led 12-5 at the end of the first half but struggled early on in the second half as Takoradi Senior High found its feet and reduced its deficit to just two points (10-12).
A three point shot put Takoradi Technical in the lead and saw the game out as both teams missed shots in a fairly entertaining game.
In other results, 2019 Sprite Ball Quarterfinalist Sekondi College hammered Nsein Senior High School 28-2 for its second win in Group A of the Boys Division.
Earlier on, Sekondi College beat Takoradi Senior High 12-10. Sprite Ballis Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball Tournament.
