Sekondi College (SEKCO) has clinched top spot in Group A of the Western Regional Boys Division qualifiers for the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship.
SEKCO sealed the enviable spot thanks to a 12-9 win over Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) in the former’s final game at the preliminary stage of the qualifiers.
TTI trailed 6-10 at the end of the first half but mounted a valiant effort in the second half but wasted a host of free throw shots to lose by three points.
Despite getting to the charity stripe several times, TTI executed poorly; SEKCO had recorded 28-2 and 12-10 wins over Nsein Senior High School and Takoradi Senior High School.
In the Girl’s Division, Ahantaman Senior High School lost its first game after falling 4-10 to Fijai Senior High School. The result was Fijai’s second 10-4 win in the qualifiers; the team beat Archbishop Porter Girls with the same result.
One school will represent the region in the Girls Division with two in the Boys Division at the national competition. Next year’s Sprite Ball runs from January 3-4 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
