Selections to the Tema All Star Team have caused quite a stir in the build up to the marquee matchup between Tema and Accra in the Africa Basketball Festival All Star Game.
The much anticipated game takes place at the Bukom Boxing Arena on December 24 and headlines the one day festival that celebrates Ghanaian basketball, music and food.
While notable personalities like reigning Tema Community Basketball League Defensive Player Award Winner Kwame Boamah Djan made the team, a few notable names missed out.
Key among the absentees is the 2018 League Most Valuable Player Award winner Benjamin “Padlock” Omari who plays for Spintex Knights. Omari played in 2018 for Tema Heat.
While fellow Knights players Bashiru Moro, Fred Asante and Abdul Rashid Zakaria made the list, Omari was not included. Shooting Guard Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Forward Emmanuel Ocquaye also did not make the team.
Omari hasn’t hit the highs of the 2018 campaign but has played well throughout the 2019 season helping debutant Knights seal a playoff spot.
