Basketballghana.com can confirm St. Augustine’s College won’t compete in the upcoming Sprite Ball Championship after failing to qualify from the Central Region.

The next Sprite Ball runs from January 3-4, 2020 at the El Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra with participating High Schools expected to arrive on January 2.

The qualified schools will camp at the University of Ghana (UG) Legon Campus; 12 schools will compete in the Boys Division and eight schools will compete in the Girls Division.

However, January 2016 winners St. Augustine’s won’t participate in the 13th edition of Ghana’s biggest High School basketball tournament.

St. Augustine’s missed out on the Central Region’s sole qualification spot with reigning National Champions Mfantsipim School picking up the automatic qualification spot.

Adisadel College topped the Central Region’s Boys Division with Wesley Girls High School winning the Girls Division. The qualifiers were played at the Robert Mensah Stadium.

Failing to make the list for next year’s competition marks another low point for Augustine’s since winning the title.
