Ghana's Braves of Customs competed in BAL qualifiers in 2019

Braves of Customs have successfully defended the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I title by beating Adenta Leopards 60-56 in Game 3 of the 2019 Playoff Finals at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

Braves overcame a first half 23-28 deficit to beat Leopards for the second game in a row to lift the trophy named after former ABL Chairman Benjamin Baafi.

With the game tying up multiple times in the final quarter, Braves relied heavily on their veteran backcourt of Guard Hashim Brimah and Shooting Guard Baniba Dodzi to pull off the win.

Both players converted free throws down the stretch in what turned out to be the difference maker in the tough tie. On the other hand, Leopards will rue missed opportunities from the charity stripe to force overtime or probably win the contest.

Mutaleeb Alhassan and Kontor Appiah traded three point shots earlier in the quarter but had to watch the final minutes of the game from the bench after fouling out.

Customs Center Suleman Abubakar was named Most Valuable Player in the Men’s Division I while Matilda Gordon from Braves Female Team was named MVP in the Women’s Division.

Braves walked away with 2000 Ghana Cedis while MVP winners were awarded 200 Ghana Cedis each
