Ghana Forward Ben Bentil’s Panathinaikos narrowly missed out on another win in the EuroLeague Basketball Championship played this week.
Panathinaikos lost 105-106 in overtime to German side Alba Berlin; the one point loss was the Greek Giant’s third this season. Panathinaikos lost 78-79 to Olimpia Milano and French League Champions ASVEL respectively.
Bentil did not compete in the game highlighting what has been an indifferent start to life in the high profile European Championship. The Ghanaian player has featured in five games this season and has averaged just 2.2 points in his debut run in the competition.
The Sekondi native is the first Ghana born player to be drafted into the NBA and play in the NBA; suited up for Dallas Mavericks in 2017.
After excelling at Peristeri GS to earn a move to Panathinaikos this offseason was hailed as an important step to elite level, Bentil’s time at his new club has been slow to get off the ground. He isn’t eligible to compete in the Greek Surper League.
