The Ashanti Regional qualifiers for the upcoming Sprite Ball Championship have ended successfully at the Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in Mampongteng.
Basketballghana.com gathers Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS) was due to host the regional Championship prior to the venue change.
The competition had several schools compete in the Girls and Boys Divisions respectively for places in Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball tournament.
Opoku Ware School (OWASS) and Prempeh College will represent the region; OWASS successfully defended its regional title by piping arch rival Prempeh 27-26 in the final game.
In the Girl’s Division, St. Louis Senior High School beat KASS to win the regional title in a shocking turn of events as defending champion Kumasi Girls High School (KGEE) failed to make the finals.
However, KGEE will compete at the national championship in Ghana’s capital, Accra with St. Louis as representatives for the region. KGEE are reigning two time Sprite Ball champions and have been impressive since making their debut in the 2017 Championship.
